Hot Meals for the Homeless

We provide a ministry of compassionate presence in the heart of Trenton to the transient and homeless population of the city. Each week, we set up on the sidewalk of Carroll Street in Trenton, New Jersey to serve a hot and nutritious meal to the homeless.

We meet on the streets for people who are on the streets. We believe in loving people without judgement.

We always welcome volunteers to help prepare, serve, and clean up afterward, and to visit with those whom we are serving.

We are thankful for the generous support of our congregation and donors, and for the dedication of our volunteers who give their time, talent, and treasure to benefit those we serve. We rely on our volunteers who enable us to carry out our programs of being the hands and feet of Jesus to our community.

“For I was hungry, and you gave me food, I was thirsty, and you gave me something to drink,

I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked, and you gave me clothing.”

~Matthew 25:35-36

Community Outreach

Our community outreach program endeavors to inspire community transformation by empowering and equipping challenged families with the tools they need to thrive.

People’s Pantry:

It is close to the heart of God for His people to serve their community and meet the needs of their neighbors. Times are worse than ever in our nation and our city, with inflation and supply-chain issues. As the cost of groceries soars, and many of our neighbors struggle with low wages or unemployment, the ability to feed themselves and their families is becoming increasingly challenging.

Financial crisis is devastating, and can strike anyone at anytime. We are there to help those with unexpected economic emergencies. We are committed to doing our part to meet the felt needs of our neighbors. That begins with healthy food on the table. We are offering loving assistance for those in crisis whose financial circumstances are making it difficult to purchase nutritious meals.

Families and individuals of the community can visit the People’s Pantry to pick up nutritious canned and boxed food and meats.

Welcomed food donations for the People’s Pantry include:

  • Proteins: peanut butter, nuts, canned meats (tuna, chicken, spam, ham), canned chili, high-protein canned veggies (pinto beans, baked beans, kidney beans, black beans, etc.). Pop-top cans preferred.
  • Canned veggies and fruit: applesauce, canned green beans, corn, carrots, etc. Pop-top cans preferred.
  • Rice, pasta, crackers, breakfast cereal, instant potatoes, granola bars
  • Cooking oil, salt, pepper, dried spices

Annual Community Festival

We love being out in our community, building relationships with our neighbors.

In the chaos and stress all of us are facing today, we need to come together in positive activities that help relieve the sense of negativity and insecurity that often threatens to overcome. Our annual festival gives our neighborhood the opportunity to celebrate together in fun activities that lead to bonding and well-being. It gives us the opportunity to visit with old friends and make new ones.

One goal of our community festival is to build social cohesion. We also want to welcome our neighbors and showcase the opportunities that Rivers of Revival is providing our community, such as our after-school enrichment program and our ministries to the homeless and those suffering from food insecurity. We desire to meet the tangible needs of our community but also their spiritual needs, and Rivers of Revival provides a welcoming place for worship and fellowship.

Each year, we host a community picnic, with barbeque, live music, bounce house, face painting, giveaways, and lots of fun!
